R Introduction
The island is 73Km wide and 41Km long
with a total area of 1,845§´. Jeju
island, the largest island in Korea, came into existence 700 to 1,200
thousand years ago when lava spewed from a sub-sea volcano and surfaced above
the waters. Then 100 to 300 thousand years ago. Another volcanic eruption that formed Mt. Halla.
R Three many things in Jeju Stones
& Wind & Women Jeju Island is called "The
Island of 3 multitudes," which are stones, winds, and women. Seokda(Stone) is originated from the
Mt. Halla volcanic activity of the past. People had to cultivate the land
through a long process of clearing away the numerous rocks covering the lands
and then form the inlets for irrigation, then construct the wall for
protection against wind. Women originated from the fact that
most men of Jeju were lost at sea, which made women larger in number.
Also, women had to come out to field with men due to the Jeju's living
environment being harsh. R Getting to Jeju Jeju
international airport has total of 17 direct airlines(12 local, 6
international), which rinks major cities employing 130 aircraft. In a week
Thy fly 6 times to Tokyo, 4 times to Osaka, 2 times to Beijing, 3 times to
Hong Kong, 94% of travelers use those air lines to visit Jeju Island. More
